Carson-Newman University is eagerly awaiting the arrival of an exciting exhibit which they will open to the public as well as fellow students and employees. September 26 will mark the opening celebration for the Saint John’s Bible. The opening will take place at the First Baptist Church of Jefferson City at 7 p.m. There will be a previewing of the Bible from 5:30 to 6:45 followed by a presentation from Tim Ternes about the history of the Bible. Tim Ternes is the director of The Saint John’s Bible at the Hill Museum & Manuscript Library in Collegeville, Minnesota. He will be discussing the extensive work and research that went into replicating the first handwritten and illuminated Bible. There are only a select few schools chosen to host the exhibit with Carson-Newman being the main debut. After the debut, Carson-Newman will continue to exhibit all seven volumes of the Saint John’s Bible as well as several prints through October 23 in the Ted Russell Hall on campus. After the close of the exhibit, the university will then have the honor of hosting two of the volumes, the Pentateuch and Gospels & Acts, for the following year. The public is also invited to view the two volumes after the close of the full exhibit.
