Girl Talk- A Program for Daughters and Their Mothers, October 3, 2013

Your daughter is changing daily from a girl into a young lady. There is nothing you can do to stop the progress of Mother Nature, but you can equip your daughter with the knowledge she needs for her journey into womanhood. Girl Talk is a program designed to enhance communication between caregivers and their pre-teen daughters about sexuality, family values, decision-making, and responsibility.  We teach through fun games, group activities, and lecturettes. Girl Talk is for mothers/caregivers & daughters, ages 9-12 years, and is unique to many other programs because it brings together mothers/caregivers & daughters in the same class in order to foster a bond that will hopefully last a lifetime!

The first session will be Thursday, October 3rd and the remaining sessions will be October 10th, October 15th, and October 17th. Only moms and/or caregivers will attend the first session and it will be open to anyone interested in learning more about this program. Moms/caregivers and daughters will attend the remaining three sessions together. Each session will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the UT Extension-Jefferson County Office located at 1111 Lake Drive in Dandridge. Pre-registration is required and the cost is $40 per mother/daughter pair, but do inquire if on a fixed income for a reduced fee. To pre-register or for more information on Girl Talk, contact Melissa LaGraff at the UT Extension-Jefferson County Office- (865) 397-2969/3969 or mrector@utk.edu.
