Medic Regional Blood Center is the sole provider of blood for hospitals in the greater East Tennessee area and they depend on volunteer donors to help meet the demand. Donors who give blood to Medic become Medic members and that membership exempts donors and IRS dependents from paying blood processing fees if a life-saving transfusion is needed. This membership benefit can save a family a great deal of money and one donation per year keeps the donor protected; however, this benefit does not include pre-existing conditions. To become a Medic member, simply donate blood at any blood drive location.
Donors are always welcome at Medic’s downtown Knoxville location at 1601 Ailor Avenue or at 11000 Kingston Pike in Farragut. Upcoming community drives are also planned.
- October 4, Advance Auto Parts/ Dandridge, 11am – 6pm, Bloodmobile.
Donors must be at least 17 years of age and weigh 110 pounds or more (16 year-olds weighing 120 pound or more can donate but must have parental consent) and all donors must have positive identification.
