Eagles blaze past Maryville in dual meet at Panther Creek

Carson-Newman’s men’s and women’s cross country teams both topped Maryville in a dual meet Saturday morning at Panther Creek Park.

The men’s team had five of the top seven finishers, while Sara Honaker, Amanda Bowman and Megan Farjellah all finished one, two, three for the women.

Joshua Marsh led the way for the men, turning in a time of 31:03.45.  Fellow freshman Alec Bross and Nicholas Guerra finished shortly behind in fourth and fifth with marks of 31:04.80 and 31:13.51, respectively.

Sophomore Patrick Stump and junior Mark Edwards turned in a 31:32 and 32:16 to finish in sixth and seventh.

Meanwhile, the Lady Eagles took first, place and show.

Honaker was the Eagles’ top finisher for the third meet in a row with a 22:19.67.  Bowman finished just seven seconds behind her, while third place finisher Farjellah was a minute off the leaders’ pace.

The Eagles return to action next weekend at Maryville.
