Last week the Mount Horeb Hawks celebrated World School Milk Day. Though the actual event day is September 25, 2013, rainy weather pushed the celebration to the end of the week. This is the 14th World School Milk Day and it provides an opportunity to reinforce the benefits of drinking milk on a daily basis. Countries around the world recognize World School Milk Day with various events. The Hawks were fortunate enough to get up close and personal with a cow at their event, thanks to the support of their neighboring farm friends. World School Milk Day is sponsored by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.  Faye Beach, Southeast United Dairy Industry Association was on hand to speak to children about the the importance of drinking milk.
