On Saturday, September 28, Dandridge hosted the 2013 Scots-Irish Festival, a much-loved celebration of cultural heritage. The turnout for the festival was exceptional, with the streets of downtown Dandridge packed with attendees and various booths and tents. Several clans and houses, both large and small, were represented, bearing their crests and traditional garments, turning the area into a sea of plaid and smiles. The festival also hosted many musical performers and dancers, and a staggering amount of wares were being sold throughout the day. Whether it was clothing, jewelry, or authentic weaponry, attendees had plenty to browse and ascertain. Food and drink was available at any one of the many vendors, ensuring the crowd had no want of refreshment. Other services were offered, as well. Many of the booths, whether hosted by specific clans or not, encouraged others to come and find their own heritage, offering to trace family histories, crests, or decipher the meaning behind names. The festival lasted well into the day, and the multitude of activities provided a source of enjoyment for all who attended.
