Dennis “Will” Roach II, son of long-time State Representative Dennis “Coach” Roach, has announced his candidacy for Jefferson County General Sessions Judge in the May 6, 2014, Republican primary. Roach is seeking to fill the position to be created by the retirement of General Sessions Judge Ben Strand. “Having watched my father serve the citizens of Jefferson, Grainger, Claiborne, and Union counties for nearly twenty years, I am well aware of the demands placed upon a public official. I consider the opportunity to be a faithful public servant of Jefferson County a great honor, and a responsibility not to be taken lightly,” stated Roach.

Representative Roach had this to say, “I have had the privilege of watching Will mature into a man of character and integrity. I will be supporting his candidacy in every way I can, and I am able to confidently ask all of my friends and supporters to join me and do everything we can to see that Will becomes the next General Sessions Judge of Jefferson County.”

Will is a 1990 graduate of Jefferson County High School where he was Inter-Mountain Athletic Conference Player of the Year for the Patriots basketball team. He went on to attend Liberty University and then Carson-Newman College as a full-scholarship basketball player. Will earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in History at Carson-Newman in 1994, and was named the Phi Alpha Theta History Student of the Year. After college, Roach studied abroad at Oxford University in Oxford, England, and then returned to study at Vanderbilt Divinity School in Nashville. Roach states, “History has clearly shown that freedom cannot be maintained without the rule of law, and that the rule of law cannot be maintained without honest judges.”

Before entering the legal profession, Roach gained experience in both the public and private sectors as a school teacher and youth minister. Roach graduated in 2007 from Liberty University School of Law in Lynchburg, Virginia. After graduating, he opened his law practice in Jefferson City in 2007, and is currently the Managing Partner of Roach & Robinson, LLP, a firm he co-founded in 2011. “Jefferson County is a great place filled with many wonderful people, and it is time for my generation to rise up and take its place as leaders so that our children and grandchildren can experience the freedoms we cherish,” says Roach.

Will and his wife, Heather, have three children and make their home in Jefferson City. Roach is a leader in the youth and small group ministries of True Life Church in Jefferson City, and has participated in two international missions trips to Honduras. Roach is also in the final stages of editing a book he has authored titled The Divine Investment.
