New Opportunity School for Women established at Maryville College

The New Opportunity School for Women (NOSW) is being established at Maryville College. Linda Ueland has been named director of the program, and a town hall/meet and greet event is scheduled for Oct. 15 at 3:30 on the Maryville College campus.

The school is designed to improve the educational, financial and personal circumstances of low-income, under-educated, middle-aged women in the Appalachian region. The Women’s Fund of East Tennessee, a fund of the East Tennessee Foundation, is providing financial support for the program.

The program is open to residents of the following East Tennessee counties: Anderson, Blount, Bradley, Campbell, Carter, Claiborne, Cocke, Cumberland, Grainger, Greene, Hamblen, Hamilton, Hancock, Hawkins, Knox, Jefferson, Johnson, Loudon, McMinn, Meigs, Monroe, Morgan, Polk, Rhea, Roane, Scott, Sevier, Sullivan, Unicoi, Union and Washington.
