Jefferson County Budget Committee

The Jefferson County Budget Committee met on Tuesday, October 15, 2013, in the Historic Jefferson County Courthouse.  The Meeting was Called to Order by Committee Chairman Griffith. Absent from Roll Call were Committee Members Cureton, Blevins and Maples.

Jefferson County Finance Director Helton presented the Committee with 9 amendments for consideration.

County General Fund 101, Budget Amendment #2, which had no fund balance impact and was line item movement, was Approved with a Motion from Committee Member Baxley and proper 2nd.

Sanitation Landfill Budget Amendment #1, line item transfers, was Approved with a Motion from Committee Member Carmichael and 2nd from Committee Member Akard.

Jefferson County Schools General Purpose 141 Budget Amendment # 2, which included grant recognition and previously approved signal light contribution, was Approved with a Motion from Committee Member Dockery and 2nd from Carmichael.

Jefferson County Schools General Purpose 141 Budget Amendment #3, including $34,000 from fund balance for partial payment of a attendance and student program, which is mandated by the State, was Approved with a Motion from Akard and 2nd from Committee Member Beeler.

Jefferson County Schools General Purpose 141 Budget Amendment #4, pertaining to grant recognition, was Approved with a Motion from Akard and 2nd from Carmichael.

Jefferson County Schools Federal Purpose Fund 142 Budget Amendment #2, with no fund balance impact, was Approved with a Motion from Baxley and 2nd from Dockery.

Jefferson County Schools Federal Purpose Fund 142 Budget Amendment #3, pertaining to grant recognition, was Approved with a Motion from Akard and 2nd from Carmichael.

Jefferson County Schools Food Service Fund 143 Budget Amendment #1, which included previously omitted 2% matching raises (matching County employees and other non certified school system employees), was Approved with a Motion from Carmichael and 2nd from Akard.

Added to the Agenda was a County General Fund Amendment, which included a line item adjustment for the County Sheriff’s Department and release of the Drug Court Funds that was previously approved, was Approved with a Motion from Carmichael and 2nd from Akard.
