Spooky Tales

Halloween is the perfect time for spooky tales, and I really enjoy all of the hoopla of the season. I adore all things (well, almost all things) dramatic and very few things are more dramatic than Halloween. I even live in a home that is haunted and it has been documented by paranormal experts as a place that spirits thrive. Being one that loves to entertain, I am happy to share my space with benevolent spirits, as long as they remain benign house-guests. Not all homeowners are as lucky and sometimes guests from other realms can be trying at best and downright scary at worst. I know of homeowners that have had to resort to cleansing their home to rid themselves of the ghastly ghosts. Sometimes the only thing that can be done is to move out, lock, stock and barrel.

Friends of mine in Dallas bought a mansion in the Highland Park area, where the murder of a woman had taken place on the spiral staircase.  So many eerie things happened in the house, they moved out after a few months.

Being naturally dramatic, I understand that not every one believes in spirits, however, not everyone lives with one either. During this witching season, I challenge you to embrace the macabre beauty and drama of Halloween. Believe in ghosts, if only for one night. Carve a pumpkin and delve out tasty treats to the tiny creatures that roam the night. November 1st will come soon enough and we will all be on to the turkey and stuffing of Thanksgiving and the bright lights of Christmas. For just one night, the last night of October, embrace the chill. Here is to wishing you a shiveringly spectacular Halloween! Don’t forget to howl at the moon!
