Travelers in Jefferson County may recognize a familiar dip in the road, while navigating the south bound lane of North Hwy 92 between Jefferson City and Dandridge. A significant dip in the road has redeveloped and has been the source of concern for those that drive that portion of the highway regularly. Several months ago, efforts were made to eliminate the dip, which had become more pronounced over time and usage. The reoccurrence has left some questioning the stability of that portion of the road. Mark Nagi, Tennessee Department of Transportation Community Relations Officer for Region I, which includes Jefferson County, stated that engineers in the Regional Maintenance Office are aware of the depression on Highway 92 and the location is being observed daily. According to Nagi, the Regional Geotechnical Office advises that the depression has stabilized and is structurally safe. TDOT is aware that the area is a nuisance to travelers and it is scheduled to be repaired before the paving season ends in 2013.
