Just a messy job

I am getting ready for Halloween, however my least favorite chore is cleaning out the pumpkin to get it ready for carving. Is there an easy way to do this or is it just destined to be messy?

Well, there are certainly several ways to clean out a pumpkin in preparation for carving, however, most all of them are messy to some degree. If you are opposed to using your hands, try a large serving spoon or an ice cream scoop. It may also help to make the hole in the bottom of the pumpkin, rather than the top. Sometimes this makes for easier access. I know people that use power tools for the job, however, one small slip and the pumpkin is ruined. You also have to clean the tools, which doesn’t save much on the mess. I suppose that the mess is just part of the experience and, as it only happens once a year, we should embrace it!
