4-H Members Attend Camp Explorer

Maury Middle School 4-H members took learning to a whole new level. The 4-H members went to Clyde Austin 4-H Center in Greeneville, TN last week. Although their stay was only for two days, it brought back weeks’ worth of learning they will remember for a lifetime.

While at camp the 4-H members learned math skills of finding the median, mean, mode, range and quadrants just to name a few while playing corn hole. They had a class in engineering while designing with Legos. There were lots of hands-on learning experiences in the wildlife room where they learned about animals native to Tennessee. One of the favorite classes is a hands-on museum with lots of fossils and rocks. Physics is a subject that even intimidates adults but the youth were absorbed in the class.

Although there were a lot of classes, there was still time for fun and recreation. The 4-H members experienced canoeing, shooting rifles, archery and everyone’s favorite, a campfire before bedtime.
