Time To Fall Back

Time Fall Back feature 11012013This weekend will provide the opportunity for a little extra sleep, as much of the Nation prepares for Day Light Savings Time to end. On Sunday, November 3, 2013, at 2 am, the time will fall back one hour, providing an extra hour of sleep on Sunday morning. The result of the time change will be brighter mornings and earlier onset of dusk in the evenings. Returning to Standard Time can be tricky for some people, as they have difficulty adjusting sleep routines to the new time. Brighter mornings may interfere with regular sleep patterns and earlier onset dusk can play havoc with schedules. Sleep experts suggest waking at the normal time on Sunday, if possible. Those that are sensitive to light may need to invest in curtains or shades that will keep the room dark during those early morning hours. If the time change is inducing daytime sleepiness, it is suggested that altering night time and waking schedules by fifteen minute increments may ease the way.

In addition to moving the clocks back one hour before heading to bed on Saturday night, it is a good time to do a bi annual battery check on smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to ensure that are in good working order for the winter months ahead. For those that long for more daylight hours, Daylight Savings Time will return on Sunday, March 9, 2014.
