Parrott-Wood Library to receive $5,000 state grant

State Representative Andrew Farmer has received confirmation from Secretary of State Tre Hargett that Parrott-Wood library in the Strawberry Plains community will be awarded a grant of $5,000.00 to be used for their current expansion project.

Representative Farmer and Senator Frank Niceley, both representing the Strawberry Plains community in the Tennessee General Assembly, along with Secretary Hargett, met with the Jefferson County Library Board and citizens on March 14th of this year at which the main topic of discussion was the expansion of Parrott-Wood Library.

“We just had to make sure their wasn’t anything in statute that would prevent Secretary Hargett’s office from being able to render a favorable decision on the library’s grant application and there was nothing found to hinder the award,” notes Farmer. “Hopefully, the $5,000.00 grant from the State of Tennessee will put Parrott-Wood Library over their fundraising goal.” The library had previously set a fundraising goal of $30,000.00 for the project.
