What does a girl wear for a national TV program, that just may present her with a dream come true award for Teacher of the Year?  A big decision for such an exciting event…and for Billie Yardley the answer came very easily.  Judy Garner, owner of the well known, Silk Purse, located in Knoxville, called Billie and invited her to select the perfect attire on the house.  Delighted, Billie met with the very gracious Judy Garner at the Silk Purse and choose a stunning outfit.   Black leggings, a red tank and matching tunic, trimmed with black leather, looked so fashionista on Billie.  Black leather boots to the knee, and black onyx and gold jewelry, completed the look. The look could not have been more perfect for Billie.

With that important decision accomplished, the bags were packed and off she went to New York City to appear on the Today Show with Hoda and Kathy Lee for the final answer of  who had been chosen  National Teacher of the Year.  She was met at the airport in great style, a chauffeur holding a sign with Billie Yardley blazing her name and a limousine awaited her  in a special parking place… and that is rare in New York.  The next morning, she arrived at the television station at 8:30, went to the famous “Green Room” with an array of  beverages, pastries and fruit set before her like a queen.  Next came the hair and make up studio for a special  touch up of her hair, as it was snowing in New York  and her hair had gotten wet  on the way to the studio.  She felt pampered, as her hair was perfected in the style of a star.  She did her own makeup, as she has taken many courses on the proper application.  She used bare minerals liquid makeup base, bare minerals blush in the shade of Thistle, Lancôme eye shadow in  the gold shade and Lancôme eyeliner and highlighter for creases beneath the brow bone in the shade of charcoal.   Now, she was fashion ready while awaiting the news of how the nation had voted. Would it be her?  She said, “I  was honored just to be there.”  Then the  envelope was opened and the… “winner is Billie Yardley of JeffersonCountyHigh School, Dandridge, Tennessee” rang out.   A yelp of pride for our Teacher of the Year went up and has not stopped.  Billie Yardley, you looked beautiful on national television; we could not be more proud of you and all fashionistas are looking for the outfit you chose! We love you, Billie Yardley. Thank you for the gift of knowledge you are giving to our students and for the devotion you have exhibited for so many years for being the best one can be with students.
