Traveling For Thanksgiving?

Going out of  town for Thanksgiving?  Make packing for the trip a whole lot easier by starting the packing early.  Nothing is as hectic as packing the night before leaving and trying to remember the exact things to pack, especially if traveling with children.  It is almost like moving with a baby, to collect and pack all the necessary clothes, formula and toys.  Start at least three days before leaving.  It is such a relief not to be under the pressure of having to stay up nearly all night gathering clothes and trying to decide what to take.

Remember to take a lovely hostess gift, if one is a house guest. Scented soap and hand towels, a piece of favorite china or crystal for the hostess or a special set of beautiful pillow cases.  It is also very thoughtful to call the hostess ahead of time and ask if she would enjoy a special centerpiece sent to her house for the Thanksgiving table.  Ask about her favorite color and style for the centerpiece.  Also, take some chocolates, such as Godiva to leave  in your room, with a sweet note, immediately before one’s departure. This thoughtful act is so appreciated by the hostess.

Offer to help with all food preparation and especially the clean up after the Thanksgiving feast. These thoughtful and sweet remembrances make one a very welcome guest for years to come. Be sure to leave the guest room clean.

If you are having guests for the Thanksgiving feast, create a welcoming array of thoughtful delights for the guest room.  A note saying how much their visit means, a basket of fruits, snacks, bottled water and an ice bucket filled with ice and tongs is a nice gesture. The latest magazines and a new best seller book is always welcome.  And, always have fresh flowers.  It may even be one beautiful flower in a small vase, but flowers are thoughtful gestures.

Darlings, may each of you have a blessed and beautiful day and share Thanksgiving with all the trimmings and happiness, with family and friends.
