Flocking A Christmas Tree

We are putting up our tree this week and I am wondering how to get a real tree flocked. When we were younger, I lived in a large city and we ordered the tree from the florist flocked. I haven’t seen any real flocked trees around here but would like some advice on where to buy one or how to do it myself.

Flocked trees are very lovely. Some nurseries and tree lots will professionally flock a tree. I would suggest trying a larger, independent nursery to purchase from, as they will be your best bet for special requests. If you simply cannot find a real tree that is flocked, you can always do it yourself. It requires very few, easy to find, items, however it is very, very messy. It is also more difficult than it looks to make the flocking appear like a natural snowfall. There are professional flocking kits that can be purchased at crafting stores and come with directions. I would probably go with a pre packaged kit, rather than the more homespun recipe. Christmas trees can be pricy and it would be a shame to ruin one trying flocking with no direction. If all else fails, contact your favorite florist. They have the skill and ability to make flocking look natural, though you may have to transport your tree to their shop for the process.
