State Representative Jeremy Faison Joins With Key Organizations To Raise Suicide Prevention Awareness

Faison Suicide License Plates 12032013State Representative Jeremy Faison (R–Cosby) announced this week that he has joined with the Suicide Prevention Network and The Jason Foundation to help raise awareness for suicide prevention efforts in Tennessee.

The trio is working to collect signatures for an official specialty license plate promoting suicide prevention in the state as part of legislation sponsored by Representative Faison and signed into law by Governor Haslam last year. The license plate represents the first in the entire country devoted to the cause of preventing future suicides in the United States.

Before production of the license plates can begin, however, 1,000 signatures must be collected from individuals who plan to purchase the specialty plate.

Over the last several years, my eyes have truly been opened to the world of hurt and mental illness and abuse often associated with suicide attempts,” said Representative Faison. “By working together, I fully believe we can make great strides in our state to help raise suicide awareness and prevent suicide attempts in the future. Suicide has touched my family and there is a good chance that it has touched yours as well. Over the coming weeks, I hope that you will join with us in helping spread the word about this new specialty license plate to raise suicide prevention efforts.”

The new suicide prevention license plate may be pre-ordered at www.sp-license-plate.eventbrite.com. Each plate costs $35.
