LOCAL GOP TO HOLD ANNUAL MEETING IN JANUARY

republican_elephantThe Jefferson County Republican Party will hold its annual meeting in January. Bylaws call for the annual meeting to take place on the third Saturday of January each year. In 2014 that Saturday is January 18th at 9:00 A.M. in the main courtroom of the Historic Courthouse in Dandridge, TN. In the event of inclement weather on that date, the meeting will be postponed until the following Saturday of January 25th.

This meeting will include Republican candidates for elected office announcing their intentions to run in either the May or August Republican primaries for a local, state or federal election. With the exception of the Assessor of Property and Highway Superintendent, all county offices will be up for election in 2014. Not all offices, however, will have candidates in one of the primaries. In addition to regular four year term office holders announcing their candidacy for 2014, candidates for eight year terms of Circuit Court Judge, Chancellor, Sessions Court Judge, District Attorney General and District Public Defender will be announcing their intentions as candidates.

Candidates will be afforded a couple of moments to introduce themselves to the group and outline their candidacies and campaign initiatives for 2014. All registered Republican voters in Jefferson County are strongly encouraged to attend and learn more about candidates for the May and August Republican primaries.
