Christmas Popcorn

recipe-dessertChristmas is almost upon us, and baking at my house is in full swing.  We have an abundance of family baking traditions, but I’m always looking to add new ones.  I seriously love chocolate dipped pretzels, so when I came across this recipe, I knew I had to try it.  The popcorn/pretzel/almond bark combination is perfect.  Adding the M&Ms and sprinkles makes it the perfect Christmas snack.

Ingredients

½ cup popcorn kernels

2 cups broken pretzel pieces

1 bag green and red M&Ms

12 oz. vanilla almond bark

Red, green, and white sprinkles (nonpareils look great)

Pop popcorn (I use an air popper).  Remove unpopped kernels and place popcorn in a large bowl.  Add pretzel pieces and M&Ms to bowl.

Melt almond bark in microwave safe bowl at 30 second intervals, stirring after each interval, until smooth.  Pour half of melted almond bark over pretzel mixture, stir, then add remaining almond bark and stir until evenly coated.

Spread onto waxed paper.  Immediately sprinkle with sprinkles.  When almond bark has hardened, break into pieces and store in airtight container.
