Past Fashion Trends

Darlings, my how time does fly.  Another year has arrived and I was just becoming comfortable writing 2013. Thinking about my favorite fashion trends during 2013 and some I did not like so much, I thought it would be fun to write about the last year of fashion trends.

First, I loved the new trend for large curls which brought back the girly girl look in hair styles. Trying to keep my hair stick straight was a constant battle as my hair is naturally curly and has a definite delight to defy the struggle of the straight iron. My cousin had the same type of hair and we rolled our hair on tin cans to straighten the jumble of curls. Huge tin cans , not the 8 ounce size.  Our teen years were spend looking very much like the sister of the Tin Man.

And the trend to wear several bracelets with a watch is so elegant. Love this fashionista look ! Also, the new freedom to wear silver, gold, bronze and platinum together was a fashion blessing. What joy to never have to wonder again about the proper combination.

Speaking of fashion freedom, the nod from the powers that be in the world of fashion to wear white all year was my dream come true. Just a bit of ivory hue to the winter white fashion makes it the new haute color.

Remember, I kept telling my darlings , to not be intimidated by white this winter season, the, oh so , in the fashion know, was going to be white leggings, jeans and slacks,. A real thrill went through me when I saw store after store with window displays of white leg wear, long after writing about the coming winter fashion trend.

Matte make up is the trend now and for 2014, I have tried all the matte products and I like the make up base, eye shadow, blush and bronzer’s Being taught make up for film and TV,  if one was an hour over forty the sparkling look on eyes aged one 20 years or more.  So I ran from glitter on the eyes as one would run from the plague!

Matte nail polish and I just do know what to think about our combination at the moment. I am trying to developed a like for the matte nail but I am doubtful .

Darlings, have a Happy New Year and thank you for reading my column.  All of my readers are so important to me, I cherish each one.
