January is a great month for setting goals and resolutions for life improvement.    How about improving someone else’s life?   Medic Regional Blood Center encourages the community to add blood donation to their resolution list and try and donate at least four times this year.    “By donating blood, you are saving lives right here in the community,” emphasizes Christi Fightmaster, Medic Spokesperson.   The blood you donate to the area blood provider stays in the greater East Tennessee area to save the lives of countless hospital patients.   “If all eligible donors donated at least once more time a year or brought a friend along, there would rarely be blood shortages, “ says Fightmaster.

The area has a critical need for all blood types, especially O Negative and B Negative.    Medic officials say they have been hit hard by the recent inclement weather and by cold and flu season.   Donors presenting do donate must be well and healthy.   Medic has two donor centers:  1601 Ailor Avenue and 11000 Kingston Pike in Farragut behind Pittsburgh Paints.    Community drives are also planned for added convenience.
