Bryant leads Patriots to Victory over Cocke County

The Patriots won the opening tip, and did not trail in a game that was never close. John Bryant poured in 34 points as the Patriots defeated Cocke County 65-50.

Jefferson County opened the game on a 10-2 run , which led to a 20-6 lead after one quarter of play. The Fighting Cocks would come out firing in the second quarter, hitting three consecutive three pointers. However, they still trailed 43-29 at the half. The teams would trade baskets most of the second half, with Jefferson County leading by as much as 21 in the fourth quarter. The Fighting Cocks ended the game on a 8-2 run to cut the lead to the final score of 65-50.

John Bryant lead the Patriots with 34, followed by Kyle Briggs with 9, Noah Carter added 7, while Brice Cusick and Corey Jenkins added 6 and 5 respectively. Danny Bates would close out the scoring adding 4 points.

With the win Jefferson County improves to 21-3 overall and clinches the regular season championship in class AAA region 1 district 2. They return home Tuesday night to take on Morristown West.

In other action Friday night, the Lady Patriots also defeated Cocke County, 49-46.
