Health Care & Candidate Announcements Topic of Dining With Democrats Luncheon

The Jefferson County Democrat Party met for their monthly lunch gathering last week and the group had announcements from three candidates for the May and August elections. Mike Dockery informed members of the Party that he will be seeking the office of Mayor of Jefferson County, making this the first time in memory that there will be a Mayoral candidate in the Democrat Primary. Joining Dockery on the ballot will be Marjorie Ramsey, who will be running for a seat in the State House representing District 11 and Vonda Laughlin, who will be running for a term as Executive Committeewoman for the Democrat Party District 8. As the Democrat Party continues to grow in Jefferson County, the group hopes to see more candidates on the ballot.

Health Care was a topic of concern at the lunch meeting and Party members expressed concern that some of the State’s neediest may not be eligible under the Affordable Health Care Act and may have no options from the State of Tennessee. Following general housekeeping information regarding upcoming events, the group rounded up the meeting with a comedic look at political issues and gave congratulations to Dockery and Laughlin on their upcoming nuptials.
