A Heartfelt “Thank You”

LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Sherry Dotson, Supervisor, Jefferson County Schools Transportation Department

On January 28, 2014 Jefferson County was hit early around 9:00 am with an unexpected snow and ice storm. With student safety utmost in our minds, the schools were dismissed. All school bus drivers were called to come and load their students, and then to deliver those students home. The bus drivers had two to three schools that they had to drive to in order to pick up all of their students, and they stayed on the job until every one of those students were taken home safely without any major incidents. The school bus garage employees were also on the road either driving a bus or helping the buses. This was a day of unsung heroes doing their jobs under very difficult circumstances. The accolade of “unsung heroes” not only refers to the school bus drivers, but the many others in our county who assisted the schools in getting Jefferson County students home safely.

The Jefferson County School Transportation Department would like to say a very appreciative and heartfelt “Thank You” to all of the following for their great response and assistance to our buses and students on a day of winter weather:
