Chief Deputy Clerk, Travis Adderhold, has announced that he will be seeking the Republican Party nomination for Jefferson County Clerk in the May 2014 primary. He has worked for the retiring County Clerk, Rick Farrar, for over fifteen years. “I have a tremendous amount of respect for Mr. Farrar’s commitment to the community and have learned how to run the office efficiently and effectively through the example he has set.” says Adderhold.

Adderhold began working in the office part-time in 1997, while obtaining a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Upon his graduation in 1998 he was offered a full time position on the County Clerk’s staff. “The County Clerk’s office has a wide array of services that it provides to the public. If you have visited the office in the past 15 years chances are that I have processed your title and registration, issued you a business license, helped you obtain a passport, or just answered a question for you.” Adderhold stated.

Early in his employment, he was sent to Monroe County to learn how their clerk’s office implemented the new title printing system under the State of Tennessee’s contract. This contract allowed counties to print and issue automobile titles straight from their office to the customer. “During that time most counties in East Tennessee were having Knox County issue titles or had to wait on Nashville to issue them. Sometimes it took customers four weeks or longer to get titles. I met the Monroe County Clerk who had just started printing his own titles at a training class, and we talked about the benefits of printing titles in the office. I immediately relayed what he had told me about the process to Mr. Farrar and we began printing our own titles soon after.” Adderhold says. This process not only helped increase revenues for the office but also cut down dramatically on turnaround time for titles.

While employed at the County Clerk’s office he has received training for issuance of US Passports. He was asked to participate in a focus group for Jefferson County governments’ first website and was tasked to provide the content for the clerk’s page. Also, he produced an informational DVD which can be viewed by customers at the clerk’s office. More recently he played an instrumental role in the implementation of the State of Tennessee’s scanning contract. This is a contract which allows County Clerks to scan their own documents on site for better record retention and increased revenues.

He is a lifelong Republican and served as Secretary for the Jefferson County Republican Party Executive Committee. Travis and wife, Leslie are both active in the community. They both attend Oakland United Methodist Church where she leads their four children’s’ Wednesday night youth services. They are also both active in youth sports, cub scouts, and recently with the help of many volunteers from Oakland United Methodist Church started Cinderella’s Closet, which is an effort to make prom time a special time for those in need. “During my 15 plus years at the County Clerk’s office I have gained a great deal of experience in what it takes to run the office. If I am elected it will be a seamless transition and I will strive to uphold the honesty and integrity of the office. I will continue to offer updated and new services to the citizens of Jefferson County as long as the cost of providing these services doesn’t outweigh the benefits provided. Being a responsible elected official doesn’t mean burdening the taxpayers financially” stated Adderhold.
