Russelville National Guard unit assists motorists in East Tennessee

At approximately 2 A.M. Thursday morning, Soldiers with the Tennessee National Guard’s 190th Engineering Company, out of Russellville, Tenn., began assisting the Tennessee Highway Patrol, stationed in Dandridge, Tenn., with health and welfare checks along Interstate 81 and I-40. They responded to a single vehicle accident, as well as inspected multiple abandoned vehicles to ensure no one was stranded. The Guardsmen marked the vehicles and the Highway Patrol handled vehicle recovery operations. Between 2 A.M. and 6:45 A.M., the Guard and Highway Patrol responded to three vehicle accidents, all with no injuries.

In total, the teams traveled 163 miles assisting people, while searching and marking vehicles.
