Piedmont Elementary School hosted their second annual Family Literacy Night on Tuesday evening. The Olympic-themed event was held from 5 – 8 p.m. The first Family Literacy Night was such a big success, the school decided to make it an annual event.

Students and siblings, along with family, guardians, and teachers enjoyed playing multiple games set up to encourage fun and learning at the same time, such as mathematical games that include paper airplanes, word jumbles, and more!

Next up was the computer lab, which allowed everyone to work together to advance in games online together while exposing parents and guardians to the students’ online resources that are available at home too. The art room had a paper torch to color with pencils and sponge paint.

The library was geared towards the younger crowd, while the gym had games lined up for physical fun. Each participant received a medal when their Olympic score card was full. To top off the night’s fun, the crowd was buzzing with excitement in anticipation of the closure of school on Wednesday.
