The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office was one of the First Responders that were recognized by First Tennessee Bank as Jefferson Countian of the Year at the recent Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce banquet. Jefferson County Sheriff G.W. “Bud” McCoig accepted the award on behalf of the Sheriff’s Office and passed the award to the Officers of B shift and Supervisor Montee Bowen. McCoig praised the officers for their dedication and professional response during a difficult time. McCoig stated “This shift was excellent in their service at the tragic crash on I-40, when the Church Bus blew a tire and struck a Tractor Trailer. Sgt. Bowen was training SRO Deputy Cambren Gibson the day of the crash. This was Gibson’s first week of work at the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. Sgt. Bowen and Deputy Gibson were the first responders on the scene. Working with all the Departments involved, the Deputies are commended for the professional and extraordinary performance.”
