The Jefferson County Lady Patriots kept rolling Friday night in the first round of the region 1-3A tournament. They continued their run of stingy defense as they held the 4-seed, Daniel Boone, to just 33 points. Jefferson County would outscore the Lady TrailBlazers, 32-19 in the second half and cruise to a 50-33 win to advance to the semifinals Monday night.

The first quarter saw the stable of the Lady Patriots in full force with their defense shining, holding Daniel Boone to just 8 points. Jefferson County would only manage 9 points in the opening period, but had a lead nonetheless after one. In the second quarter the game would speed up a bit, with multiple fouls and turnovers being a factor. The Lady Patriots would lead at the break, 18-14. Coach Rick Sinard, and his staff, would make all the right adjustments at the half, as the Lady Pats would open the second half on a 10-2 run and take a commanding 35-22 lead into the fourth and final quarter. The Lady Trailblazers would cut the lead to open the fourth quarter, 35-27, but that would be as close as they would get. Jefferson County would once again use defense to extend its lead and advance, 50-33.

Jefferson County was lead in scoring by senior, Autumn Dodson, with 18. Followed by freshman Alexandria Alder with 12 points. Makaila “Wooly Bear” Woolard, would add 11 points, while Brooke Taylor would chip in 9.

With the win the Lady Patriots improve to 20-10 on the season and advance to play Dobyns-Bennett in the Region 1-3A Semifinals Monday at 7:30 at JCHS. The Lady Indians defeated the Lady Patriots, 46-30, back on February 5th. The Lady Patriots, however, are making the most of their rematches in the postseason, as they have defeated both Morristown East and Morristown West. Jefferson County was a combined 0-4 against them in the regular season.
