A group of Maury Middle School students will advance to the Southern Appalachian Science and Engineering Fair, following successful competition at their local school. These students will join school level winners at other schools across Jefferson County and 21 counties across East Tennessee in the April 1st competition. Around 300 students are expected to compete in the event, which provides prizes and scholarships, as well as the opportunity to meet some of the region’s science and engineering professionals. On the Middle School level, a student must place in the top 10 to 20% at the local school level competition to receive an invitation to the Fair. The Southern Appalachian Science and Engineering Fair is dedicated to promoting science and engineering to students in the Southern Appalachian area.
