Jefferson County held its fourth Annual Alumni Baseball Game on Saturday afternoon. It was wildly successful and included alumni from the first graduating class of Jefferson County in 1976 all the way up until 2013.

A homerun derby took place at noon in two separate categories. Winners were Rich Rundles from the class of 1999 and Nick Sherrod from the class of 2008. Rich Rundles and Class of 1989 graduate Bobby Morgan would have a five swing “swing-off” to determine the winner. The game started at approximately 1 p.m. with Rich Rundles starting on the hill and fellow 1999 graduate Justin “Gut” Anderson behind the plate. There were 37 former players that participated in activities as well as former coaches Doug Seals and the legendary David Holland.

First year head coach Gaines Cox was excited to see the turnout, saying: “What’s fun is the interest in the program, and the guys willing to come back and play on their field that they put blood, sweat, and tears in to.”  He added “Just to sit and listen to the stories from some of the guys I’ve seen today – Chad Coley, Rich Rundles, Dustin Kosak, Justin Anderson, Beau Massey, and others.  They were here during my first five years here as an assistant.” He would conclude saying “ It is so overwhelming the amount of support – the work that the parents and coaches have put in –  its very humbling.”
