Repass Announces Run For Sessions Judge

W. Keith Repass has announced his candidacy for General Sessions Court Judge for Jefferson County in the May Republican Primary election. The General Sessions Judge handles civil, traffic, and criminal matters and also presides over the Juvenile and Probate Courts.

Repass has served as the municipal judge for Jefferson City since 2000, and as a judicial commissioner and magistrate for Jefferson County since 2001. He is a member of the Tennessee Municipal Judges’ Conference and the Judicial Commissioners’ Association of Tennessee. On numerous occasions, he has served as a special General Sessions Judge by special appointment. “Serving in these judicial positions has given me vital and critical experience in understanding and handling the types of matters that come before the General Sessions Court,” Repass said. “Also, for the past 14 years, I have handled cases in the Juvenile Court nearly every day that it is in session, both as a parent’s attorney and as a guardian ad litem representing the best interests of children in difficult circumstances.”

Repass has handled numerous estates in the Probate Court as well as civil matters in the Sessions Court.

A lifelong New Market resident, Repass graduated from Jefferson County High School and received his bachelor’s degree from Carson-Newman College. After receiving his law degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 1993, he began practicing with a law firm in Jefferson City. In 1999, he opened his own office in Dandridge, where he has built a successful solo practice.

He is a member of New Market Baptist Church, where he serves as a deacon and Bible-study teacher. In his youth, he obtained the rank of Eagle Scout from Boy Scout Troop 76 in Jefferson City.

The candidate is the son of William N. Repass and the late Bonnie Repass of New Market.

“I believe that my years of judicial experience, together with my career of practicing in the various jurisdictions of the General Sessions Court, uniquely qualify me for the position of General Sessions Court Judge.” Repass said. “I ask for the vote and support of all voters of Jefferson County.
