One night after needing an incredible play by Trevor Whitley to defeat Morristown East, 4-3, the Jefferson County Patriots saved the drama for another night. Jefferson County used a big sixth inning to defeat the Hurricanes with somewhat ease as the Patriots “Stomped The Plate” six more times than did Morristown East to claim a 10-4 victory.

Morristown would score two runs in the top half of the first inning, getting off to a much better start than on Monday night. However, after scoring two runs of their own in the bottom of the first, Jonathan Royster would smack a homerun over the left field wall with a runner on second and two outs to give the Patriots a 4-2 advantage after one. Each team would score two runs in the second inning and Jefferson County took a 6-4 advantage into the third. Jefferson County pitcher, Ryan Buchanan, would retire 11 of the next 12 batters that he faced going into the bottom of the sixth. Jefferson County then scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI single by Jonathan Royster, an RBI double by Eli Devotie, and a two-run single by Brandon Bingle to take a commanding lead into the final inning, 10-4. Freshman pitcher, Brandon Saylor, would come in and get the save in the bottom of the seventh, facing the minimum three batters in the inning while striking out two.

With the win Jefferson County improves to 4-2 overall (3-2 IMAC) and have now won four of their last five games. The Patriots return to action Thursday at Greeneville at 6 pm.
