Jefferson County High School students were entertained during lunch last week with an evening wear fashion show. The fashion show has become an annual event and is a part of a program that allows JCHS students to borrow evening wear for formal school events. Former JCHS student Lauren Lyke established Lyke New to assist fellow students that were having trouble meeting the pricy cost of a new formal dress for events like Prom and the Military Ball. There are a bevy of gowns to choose from in many shapes and sizes and the fashion show has become a wonderful way to showcase some of the offerings. Professionally dry cleaned and ready to wear, students can reserve a gown through the Vocational Office at JCHS. There is no cost to borrow a dress and the program functions through donations. Lauren has moved on from JCHS, obtained her bachelor’s degree and is pursuing a masters from Liberty University in school counseling. Though she is now married and resides out of state, her legacy at JCHS continues to thrive, one sparkly dress, and beautifully adorned young lady, at a time.
