The story continues for this Jefferson County Patriot baseball team. Get out to a big lead, and hold on. They have been very successful in doing so, so far this year. The Patriots scored five runs in the first inning and three runs in the fourth inning to open an 8-0 lead. The Green Devils would use four runs in the bottom of the seventh to make it just a little closer than Patriot fans’ wanted.

The Patriots would use four hits in the top of first inning to take 5-0 lead after one inning of play. Jefferson County would only manage one hit the next two innings, that came when Wade Stinson would get his second hit of the game in the top of the third. The Pats would score three runs in the top of the fourth highlighted by Kyle Briggs’ big double to left centerfield. Greeneville would manage one run in the bottom of the fourth when catcher Jonathan Royster would try to catch a Green Devil at third base, his throw was just out of reach of third baseman Silver Munguia, and the Green Devils were on the board and trailed 8-1 after four. Greeneville would start the bottom of sixth with a single and he would later score on a groundout to second base. With the score 8-2 heading to the bottom of the seventh, most fans were preparing for the trip home. A leadoff walk and two single’s for the Green Devils and they had other plans. After a double to right centerfield with two outs, the tying run would step to the plate and the Green Devils had cut the lead to , 8-6. That would be as close as they would get as Logan Hayes would catch a routine flyball to end the game.

“We had a lot of great at bats today.” Head Coach Gaines Cox said. He added “Matt Bradley threw a phenomenal game again, held his pitch count down, and Coach Reese does a great job with our pitchers.” With the win Jefferson County continues to progress and is now 5-2 on the year.
