Tax Reappraisal Notices To Arrive Soon

The Jefferson County Property Assessor’s Office has released information regarding reappraisal notices. According to Susan Gass, Property Assessor, the reappraisal notices will be mailed today, Friday, from Nashville and could begin arriving in mailboxes as soon as Saturday. Beginning on Monday, April 28, 2014, property owners can stop by the Jefferson County Property Assessor’s Office, located in the Historic Jefferson County Courthouse, or call with any questions. It is recommended that property owners who question their reappraisal values should address the issue in a timely manner following the receipt of the notice to allow for the review process. All property owners will receive a reappraisal notice, regardless of the amount of change in value. The notices currently in route are a part of a four year reappraisal cycle and the next reappraisal will be on a five year cycle. Gass stated that this is the sixth reappraisal cycle that she has worked and this cycle has the least change between reappraisal values.
