Spring is blooming… FCE Flower Show planned on May 16, 2014

The Family and Community Education (FCE) Clubs of Jefferson County will host the 2014 Flower Show on Friday, May 16th at the Jefferson City Senior Center located at 807 West Jefferson Street. The Flower Show is open to the public.  Entries will be taken from 10:00 to 11:15 a.m. After judging, entries will be available for viewing from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m.  Please have class and lot numbers for each entry ready at registration. Specimens should be brought in a clear glass or plastic vase or bottle. Below is a list of the flower show categories:

Horticultural Division

(Must be grown by person entering specimen.)

Class 1: Cut Specimen- Single Bloom

Lot 1: Roses (tea, hybrid)

Lot 2: Climbing Rose

Lot 3: Iris (bearded or other)

Lot 4: Lily

Lot 5: Pansy

Lot 6: Peony

Lot 7: Any other bloom less than 2”

Lot 8: Any other bloom more than 2”

Class 2: Cut Specimen- Multiple Blooms

Lot 9: Rose– Floribunda

Lot 10: Rose– Miniature Cluster

Lot 11: Sweet William

Lot 12: Phlox

Lot 13: Any other spike flower

Lot 14: Any other cluster flower

Lot 15: Any Tennessee Wildflower

Class 3: Potted Plants

Lot 16: African Violet

Lot 17: Any other blooming potted plant

Lot 18: Ferns

Lot 19: Any other potted plant

 

 

Artistic Division:

Class A1: Parade– arrangement using flowers in a horizontal pattern

Class A2: Harmony– arrangement using complimentary colors

Class A3: Rainbow Colors– arrangement in a crescent shape using colors of the rainbow

Class A4: Kiss– miniature arrangement no taller than 6 inches

Trips

Class T1: trip around Tennessee using the Iris as the focal point

Class T2: trip to the beach using sand, shells, driftwood, sea grass, etc.

Class T3: trip to the mountains using wildflowers, ferns, evergreens, berries, pine cones, etc.

Class T4: trip down memory lane using a favorite container

The Four Seasons

Class S1: Spring– arrangement of spring flowers (can use spring holiday themes and/or accessories)

Class S2: Summer– arrangement using Patriotic theme for the 4th of July

Class S3: Fall– dried arrangements (can use fall holiday themes and/or accessories)

Class S4: Winter– arrangement of white flowers (can use holiday themes and/or accessories)
