4H Patriot Shooters Place High in Scholastic Clay Target Program Championship

The Jefferson Co 4-H Patriot Shooters competed in the Scholastic Clay Target Program Regional Sporting Clays Championship May 3rd at Lucky 7 Ranch in Sweetwater, Tn.  Over 125 shooters from East Tn competed in 5 divisions.
The Patriot Shooters had squads in 4 divisions, as well as several new shooters, that shot sporting clays for the first time.  Intermediate Advanced squad Justin Scarlett, Kole Loveday, and Jacob Newman ruled their division with a score of 221/300 beating 2nd place Heritage by 22 targets.  Justin Scarlett was High Gun breaking 82 targets, with Kole Loveday as 2nd runner-up with a score of 73 and Jacob Newman not far behind breaking a 66.  Jackson Lane, Cooper McFarlane, and Caleb Smith placed 2nd in the Rookie Division (4-5 grade) with a score of 122, behind CAK warriors with a score of 137.  Jackson and Caleb were on a Sporting Clays Field for their first time.  Patriot Varsity Shooters Chase Boling, Brad McFarlane, and Kennedy Loveday placed 3rd, losing to first place Heritage 247 to 255.  Chase Boling was High Gun overall breaking 89/100 targets.  Ethan McFarlane, David Walker, Blake Delaney, Justin McClendon, and Jake Britt shot as Intermediate Entry but failed to place. Blake, Justin, and Jake shot Sporting Clays for the first time as well and John Barnes shot for the Varsity also.  Patriot Shooters next event is Regional Skeet at Oak Ridge Sportsman’s Association May 17-18.  The Regional Trap will be May 31-June 1 at Hog Heaven Gun Club in White Pine.
