BRENDA FAYE MONROE PRATT

Brenda Faye Monroe Pratt (Aunt Boo Boo and Nanny),was born February 7, 1950 to Calma and Hazel Monroe. Surrounded by her family, she finished a long battle with cancer at The University of Tennessee Medical Center and went to be with the Lord on June 3, 2014 while listening to Amazing Grace. She smiled the biggest smile and held her sons hands as she reached out and took Jesus’ hand. Brenda was always putting others first. She was a faithful member of Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church in New Market, TN. Brenda enjoyed church activities, fishing, camping, family events, her pets, but most of all she enjoyed her grandchildren and spending precious moments with them. She would always give them what they wanted even when she was told not to. Throughout Brenda’s life she worked in several factories but the two most precious jobs she ever held was Vacation Bible School teacher and substitute school teacher in the Jefferson County School System.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Calma and Hazel Monroe ; beloved step mother Sara Monroe; and former husband Ance Pratt. Brenda is survived by longtime companion, Andrew (Doo Doo) Buckner Jr. and his family; her sons and daughters-in-law, Rodney (Kristal) Pratt, Dwayne (Darla) Pratt, and Lance (Michelle) Pratt, 6 grandchildren, Cierra Mudd, Cody , Kristian , Andrew , Benjamin and Natalie Pratt; very special brother-in-law, Herbert Pratt; lifelong friends, Brenda Holdway and Thelma Dale Taylor; brother, Harl Monroe; sister, Gladys Williams; sister-in-law, Tella Monroe; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the staff at Hanna Cancer Associates, UT Medical Staff from the ER, 11th Floor, and 12th Floor, Dr. Harper and especially the 2 nurses, Dr. Litton, and Dr Hunter in the Medical Critical Care Unit. Funeral Service will be held 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 5, 2014 from Farrar Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Thurman Dyke and Reverend Darrell Williams officiating. Family and friends will gather 9:30 a.m. Friday at Farrar Funeral Home to proceed to Neal Cemetery in Powder Springs for an 11:00 a.m. graveside interment service. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to: Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 404 BNA Drive , Suite 102, Nashville, TN 37217-2571.
