The Patriot Shooters recently participated in the State Shooting Competition and several team members brought home high awards. There were over 2,200 participants from grade 4 – college age students.

Among those bringing home awards was Brad McFarlane who came home with the Grand Champion in Sporting Clays with a score of 99. He also took the High Overall Combined Individual and All-State Sporting Clays.

Others placing in the competition were Taylor Jett for High Junior Varsity Male, Kelsey Nelson for All-State Ladies Trap and Runner-Up for Junior Varsity Female. David Walker tied for third place in Trap with an Intermediate Entry. Jade Merritt took All-State Ladies Trap and Chase Boling was the Runner-Up for High Gun Skeet after losing the shoot off with a score of 99.

One fact which is notable to mention is the scoring for All-State events. In order to win this competition the score is based upon three factors: State Scores, Regional Scores and Grade Point Average. GPA takes ½ of the scoring processing making sure the students are successful in the classroom as well as on the shooting range.

One other award was taken home by Kennedy Loveday. He was the recipient of a $750 scholarship from the Scholastic Clays Target Program.
