Blogging from the Bahamas with Coach Ezell

Buccaneer.289.1245.KServing as assistant coach for the Bahamas women’s national basketball team, ETSU head coach Brittney Ezell will document her experiences with the team over the next month as they prepare for competition in the Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC) Games.

Below is coach Ezell’s first post in a series of installments:

June 23 -24

Day 1 was a travel day and Tri-Cities airport and Charlotte airport made getting down here stress free. Upon arrival, we headed to our hotel to get ready for practice. Did I mention that they drive on the opposite side of the street that we do?!? I was ducking and dodging cars mentally all the way here.

We then headed to our first practice and it was high energy and enthusiastic from the start. We still have to trim the final roster to 12 by Friday so there is lots of competition. There is plenty of talent here, but we need to find the right chemistry to take them to the CBC Games in Tortola, British Virgin Islands in two weeks! Practice number two should be tough as well. In addition, there is no air conditioning in the gyms here and fighting for the right to play for their country makes every second on the floor hotly contested.

I’m supposed to get local food here tonight. I’m a little anxious, but hey, I’m just happy to be here and to help! We shall see how this goes…

I will check in with you all later! Thanks for the support and Go Bucs!

P.S., check out the photo gallery for photos I took walking to the beach today before meeting with head coach Yolett McCuin!
