ETSU Football Coaching Clinic Speaker Schedule Released

Buccaneer.289.1245.KThe East Tennessee State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced Tuesday the speaking schedule for the second annual Carl Torbush/ETSU Football Coaching Clinic presented by Appalachian Orthopaedic Associates on Saturday, July 19th inside the Martha Culp Auditorium on the ETSU campus. 

The clinic, which will run from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., will feature Torbush along with ETSU assistant football coaches Billy Taylor, Mike O’Cain, Teddy Gaines and Erik Losey.The clinic, which will also feature coaches from other area colleges,is open to coaches at all age and skill levels from youth leagues to high school. The cost of the clinic is $20 for early registration (prior to July 18) and $25 day of the event. However, any coaching staff that brings five or more individuals will receive a discounted rate of $20 per person on the day of the clinic.

Participants in the clinic will receive an exclusive ETSU football folder and enjoy a full day of coaching instruction, with sessions scheduled from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. The clinic will also feature a “Coaches Coaching Coaches” segment where participating coaches will engage in on-field instruction and tutorials.  Pre-registration with a Continental breakfast is set to begin at 7:30 a.m., and a special Fellowship of Christian Athletes luncheon sponsored by Dickey’s Barbecue Pit will be provided.

7:30 a.m. – Registration Opens

9 – Welcome from Coach Carl Torbush

9:05 – Appalachian Orthopaedics Football Safety Presentation

9:10 – Mike O’Cain (Offensive Philosophy: Quarterback Mechanics)

10:10 – Billy Taylor (Defensive Philosophy: Adjustments in Quarters Concepts)

11:10 – Erik Losey (Pass Protection Concepts)

Noon – FCA Luncheon

1:30 p.m. – Teddy Gaines (Man-to-Man Techniques from Press & Off)

2:30 – Jim Cavanaugh, former assistant at Virginia Tech, UNC and N.C. State (WR play)

3:30 – Justin Zimmerman, Tusculum College (Route Combinations vs. Quarters & Cover 3)

4:30 – Paul Humphries, Maryville College (Spread Punt Formations & Coverages)

5:30 – Coaches Coaching Coaches
