Parrilla Announces 2014 Carson-Newman Cross-Country Schedule

carson-newman sports logoCarson-Newman cross-country coach Tony Parrilla announced his squad’s upcoming 2014 schedule, which features four meets against Division I competition.

The Eagles will face stout competition at the Louisville Classic hosted by the University of Louisville in Kentucky. Last year’s Louisville Classic featured 20 D-1 teams.

“One of the things that I wanted to do in developing this program is be able to compete that level, not just the D-2 level, but to be relevant at a D-1 level,” Parrilla said about this year’s schedule. “So being able to go to Louisville is putting us in the right direction for that.”

Carson-Newman will host two meets in East Tennessee. The Eagles start the regular season with the Victor Ashe Meet in Knoxville, Tenn. at Victor Ashe Park on Sept. 6 and then play host to Maryville College in a duel meet at Greene Farm in Jefferson City on September 27th

Along with the meets in East Tennessee, the Eagles travel to Kentucky, North Carolina and Georgia to compete.

The Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Championship meet takes place on November 8th in Charlotte, N.C.

The Eagles kick off their season with an intra-squad Blue/Orange Meet on August 23rd at Greene Farm. All Carson-Newman cross-country alumni are invited to the meet.
