Fiona Scruggs Continues with Outstanding Performances and Awards

The past several months have yielded numerous dance awards and performances for Jefferson County High School senior Fiona Scruggs of Talbott. This past spring, Fiona was admitted, after competitive auditions, to the nationally-known University of North Carolina School for the Arts Summer Dance Intensive. Earlier, Fiona earned a lead role as the Snow Queen in the Downtown Dance Theatre of Morristown’s annual Nutcracker last December. She additionally danced roles in “Marzipan” and “Flowers” in that production. During the winter and spring she also won several 1st place and Best-in-Category awards in Ballet and Modern competitions in Knoxville, Gatlinburg, Kingsport and Sevierville. Fiona is the daughter of Tara and Richard Scruggs of Talbott. She is a dance student of Mrs. Lori Ann Sparks at the Central Ballet School in Greeneville and of Mrs. Mandy McNeely at Turning Pointe Performing Arts in Jefferson City.
