Jefferson County High School students that preformed well on standardized testing were rewarded on Thursday with special seating and service at a luncheon held in the Jefferson County High School Cafeteria. High achieving students were served their meal by faculty and staff during their lunch hour. This has become an annual event at JCHS, designed to put an emphasis on the importance of testing in regard to future scholarships and college admittance. The Plan test is one of a set of tests that students take at various intervals in their academic career, beginning pre high school, and is a part of JCHS student’s tenth grade assessments. Students also take the ACT test in the eleventh grade to measure College and career readiness. More than 200 students were rewarded at the luncheon for their achievement this year. Jefferson County High School is actively working to improve test scores on the ACT and has enjoyed success this year, as their average composite score exceeded that of the State average. Their goals include continuing to raise the ACT composite score and increase the number of students that meet the National Benchmark for College Readiness in all four academic testing areas.
