Expect Delays

Jefferson County will have duel road projects early next week and motorists should make plans to accommodate delays. Those traveling on Interstate 40 between mile markers 409 and 430 should plan for the possibility of slow travel on Monday, October 6, 2014, as the Tennessee Department of Transportation will be in the area doing road maintenance. TDOT expects the impact times to be between 9am and 3 pm on this stretch of road. Adding to the potential delay will be detours for wide loads due to bridge work. Traffic is expected to be one lane only at the Interstate 40 East and West Bridge over Douglas Lake, near mile marker 425. Wide Loads will be detoured to US 25/SR 9 between exits 424 and 432, with possible impact to I-81 and I-26 during peak travel hours, as they may be utilized as an alternative route for I-40 “thru traffic” to by-pass the project during the times of heavy congestion. Motorists are encouraged to remain alert, as equipment will also be moved during this time and workers will be present on all road projects.
