Dandridge Community Trust hosts Christmas Concert featuring Knoxville Symphony Orchestra

Knoxville Symphony Orchestra 1 12022014Dandridge Community Trust is excited to bring the Knoxville Symphony Chamber Orchestra to Dandridge for a Sold-Out Christmas Concert on Friday, December 5th.  The concert will be held at First Baptist Church of Dandridge starting at 7 p.m.  The church will open at 6 p.m. with concert doors opening at 6:30 p.m.  In addition to church parking, offsite parking is available at the Brazelton Lodge with shuttles running throughout the evening.

The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra concert has been a longtime dream for DCT Board Member Sean Glenn.  “The Christmas season was the perfect backdrop for bringing such a wonderful and talented Symphony to our community,” says Glenn.  “The response in ticket sales has been overwhelming.  Apparently I wasn’t the only one that shared this dream.” The performance will also include collaborate performances with “the Community Choir” – a gathering of over 85 choir members from First Baptist Church, First United Methodist Church, and Hopewell Presbyterian Church.

Concert goers are encouraged to take advantage of the “Symphony Dining Specials” hosted by many local restaurants both before and after the performance.  Participating restaurants will feature 10-20% off meals for guests that show their tickets or Paypal receipts.  The following restaurants will honor the Symphony Special: Angelos at The Point, Captain Bob’s, Dandridge Pizza & More, Owen’s Restaurant, Perkins Restaurant, Taste of Dandridge, and Walt’s Hitchin’ Post.

“In keeping with Main Street beliefs, we encourage everyone to dine at their favorite local restaurants in Dandridge on Symphony night,” states Tina Murrow, Executive Director of Dandridge Community Trust. “Imagine the impact 1,000 concert goers could have on our economy if each dined local that evening?!”

The Knoxville Symphony Christmas Concert would not be possible without the generosity of local sponsors.  DCT would like to thank the following sponsors for their commitment to bringing the arts to this community:  Citizens National Bank, ERA Lakeway Real Estate, First Baptist Church, Floor Creations, FSG Bank, The Jefferson County Post, Patriot Printing, Rev. Chris & Dr. Kristel Headley, and the Town of Dandridge.

Christmas continues with Candlelight Shopping on Friday, December 12th.  The evening hosts carriage rides, Live Nativity, carolers, refreshments, store specials and extended shopping hours.  This is a great evening to enjoy the quaint beauty of the historic downtown by horse drawn carriage, the fun of a “Girls Night Out” shopping and the wonderful sounds of the season as local church choirs and guest performance by Legacy Theater fill the streets with Christmas carols.   The Dandridge Christmas Parade, a long standing favorite, will be on Saturday, December 20th at 1:30 p.m.

231 years of history make for the perfect backdrop to fulfill all Christmas celebration, family fun and shopping needs.  We look forward to hosting you this Holiday Season!!
