WSCC Will Host FAFSA Frenzy Saturday, February 7th

Walters State Community College will host a FAFSA Frenzy in the R. Jack Fishman Library on the Morristown campus Saturday, Feb. 7 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. This event comes just in time for Tennessee Promise applicants, who must complete the FAFSA by Feb. 15.

Students can complete the free application for federal student aid at https://fafsa.ed.gov. The FAFSA is required to be considered for federal and state financial aid, including Pell grants, the Tennessee Hope Lottery Scholarship and the new Tennessee Promise Scholarship.

During the FAFSA Frenzy, financial aid advisors will be available to answer questions as students and parents complete the online application in the library’s computer lab.

Both Student and parent financial information is needed for dependent students completing the FAFSA. A list of needed information is available at https://studentaid.ed.gov/fafsa/filling-out#documents. If a family has not filed a 2014 tax return, the FAFSA can be completed using “estimated income” information. When using this option, remember to log back into the FAFSA application and update the correct information after you file your 2014 taxes.

Students and parents will also need a federal student aid pin, available online at https://pin.ed.gov/PINWebApp/pinindex.jsp.

Families who cannot attend the FAFSA Frenzy or prefer one-on-one assistance can see the Educational Opportunity Center counselor each Wednesday on the college’s Morristown campus. Call 423.585.6811 to schedule an appointment.
